Mathias Weinfurter
Der Künstler Mathias Weinfurter studiert seit 2013 an der Hochschule für
Gestaltung in Offenbach. Der in Frankfurt lebende Student wurde 1989
geboren. Um einen direkten Dialog herzustellen zieht er es oft vor seine
Kunst im öffentlichen Raum zu installieren. Diese versucht er immer
wieder mit sozialen Projekten zu verknüpfen. Seine Rolle als
Kulturschaffender inspiriert ihn sich mit gesellschaftlichen Fragen
auseinander zu setzen um diese mit einem breiten Publikum zu reflektieren.
During our stay in Kramatorsk, Ukraine in 2017 we came to realize that the city was in a process of change. Among other things this process was noticeable by walking on the new bituminized roads. The old pieces of asphalt were disapearing and the few pieces we collected like archaeological finds contain narrations about the past of Kramatorsk.
The sound that is part of the installation was recorded at the monument that marks the city‘s entrance called „Stella“. The monument shows the huge metallic lettering „Краматорск“ (Kramatorsk). The sound was generated by beats on every single letter.
Every letter is a different resonance body, in this way the lettering becomes readable by sound.
